About the Product

The S5 Mini is a hands free stand that holds a scleral or hybrid contact lens and lights it from below during insertion. The height from the base of the device to the top of the lens holder is 5.5 inches (14 cm), a fixed height with no adjustment. The LED light unit recharges over USB and a Type A cable is supplied, with a USB-C cable available on request. The box holds the stand with its integrated LED, a charging cable, a carrying case and a user manual.

This is an insertion stand for scleral and hybrid contact lens wearers. Because the stand supports the lens, both hands stay free to hold the upper and lower eyelids apart instead of balancing the lens on one fingertip, and the LED lets the wearer line the eye up with the center of the lens. It was developed by optometrist Dr. Fayiz Mahgoub, and every unit comes with unlimited one on one coaching with Dr. Mahgoub and his team, available 7 days a week by phone, text, email and video chat.

Specifications

How to Use

1. Place the scleral or hybrid lens bowl up in the lens holder and fill it with preservative free saline.
2. Switch on the LED so the lens is lit from beneath.
3. Seated, lean forward until the eye is directly above and centered on the lens.
4. Hold the upper and lower eyelids apart with both hands.
5. Lower the eye onto the lens until it seats, then blink to release.

Care and Cleaning

Recharge the light unit over USB and clean the device with an alcohol wipe.
